I know most of you have heard about Cable Companies getting sued for charging Customers a lease fee on the Cable Boxes.
This was settled. Dish Network does the same they charge Customers equipment Lease fees, Problem is the Receivers are needed in order to receive channels.
Without out the receiver you cannot receive channels. So Dish Network should not be charging for the receivers. Dish Network advertise's this fee as a Equipment Lease Fee.
But after contacting Dish Network I ask them what if I buy my own receivers would this relief me from the monthly fee's. I was told no it would not here is the email reply.
Purchasing the receiver through a retailer wouldn’t actually reduce that fee. The fee is charged to any account that has more then one receiver on the account.
Well I use to have only one receiver and they still charged me $5.00 a month.
Than they raised the fee to $7.00 a month. Now it is $14.00 a month.
Now I am told they charge $7.00 per month for each DVR receiver.
About 8 year ago Dish didn't charge these fees they use to give the customer the receivers just for been a customer.
They started charging customers when the cable companies started charging there customers. But several class action lawsuits have stopped this.
The Courts have ruled that Cable companies must stop charging these fee's because the Boxes are needed in order to receive programming.
Another problem is that when I first ordered Dish 7 years ago I agreed to my package programming, Without notice Dish removed channels and placed them in higher premier packages and replace the channels with music channel that I never listen too.
They have did this more than once.
If you speak to someone at Dish and they ask you what channels you watch most, Do not tell them or you may lose that channel.
When I called to complain about them removing my channel they said I could always upgrade. This is a violation of the Anti Trust Laws.
