Dish Network LLC
Deceptive practices and salesman.internet

On Jan. 15th I was approached by a salesman and offered Dish Network services at a lower cost than my current service. I was assured that I would save $25.00 a month on my current bill with the same channel line-up, I would have better service and that if there were ever any problems to contact the salesman directly. The salesman also told me he would call Direct TV and cancel my account with them, a week later I am now paying to two satelite services. None of these statements from the salesman were true.

The following day, the service tech showed up at my home to install the new equipment. This man was rude, tracked mud all over my carpet and left us with broken equipment, promising to return later that week with a replacement, the technician never showed up with the replacement equipment even after repeated calls regarding this. The installation was not done correctly, after an hour of scrolling through the complicated menu I was finally able to watch a show without having to watch the one recording. Why record something if I have to watch it right then? If that is the case, then I don't need to pay the extra charges for a DVR. The channel line-up was not even close to what I had, and in the package they signed me up for had either duplicate channels or tons of sports channels I didn't want.

When I called the retailer, Crystal Clear Communications, the company that is contracted with Dish Network, to cancel they informed me I could not cancel without paying the outrageous cancellation fees. This amounted to $420.00 to Dish and $399.00 to Crystal Clear. I was, however, trying to cancel within the 3 day period as stated on my contract with Crystal Clear. What they don't tell you is that even if you cancel with the retailer you still have to pay Dish. Within a weeks time, there were at least 30 calls to Dish Network and Crystal Clear Communications. I finally got the service with Dish cancelled on Jun 21st and was promised a final billing invoice from Dish Network in order to pay the outrageous cancellation fee.

Today I checked my credit card balance to make a payment on the account, and there is $420.00 I cannot account for, so I call my credit card company. At the time that I agreed to sign up with Dish, the saleman told me that they needed my credit card number to validate service and that nothing would be charged unless I set up directpay and they would not retain my card number at that time. Since I never set up the directpay, then Dish should not have my card number, but yet they do. The credit card company informs me this charge is from Dish Network and I still have not received a final billing from them. I called Dish Network, I can not get a return call, so I call the number shown on the website, this tells me that I have cancelled my account, I don't owe anything and the call disconnects. Of course I don't, because they charged my credit card without my knowledge. I then go to the customer service chat, and that proved to be more than pointless. All I am told is the charge is valid and will stand, even though I don't have a billing invoice. I told the service rep that I am not disputing the charge or that I will not pay it, that before I do, I want an invoice.

So, at this point, I am putting the charge on my card into dispute until I have an invoice. Maybe then I will get either a call back from someone or at least an invoice. Even at McDonalds you get a receipt for crappy food and service. I will never sign up for Dish Network again, even if it were free, they refuse to take any responsibility for their retailers even when they lie to customers.
