I signed up with DirectTV in April. They told me that I had to pay a $200 deposit, which I did. I got a deal on programming and they told me that they would move my service for free if I moved. My bill was never correct. It was always much higher and I had to call every month to try to straighten it out. They promised to adjust it but never did. When I moved, they told me that it would cost $50 to move the service. At that point, I told them that I was tired of the lies and to just cancel the service.
On 12/1/10, they stole $633 out of my bank account. When I called them, they said they were charging a cancellation fee and several other fees in addition to a balance owed. I told them that the bill was incorrect and that I wouldn't pay it until it was fixed. They then told me that the deposit that I had paid was a "fee" and did not apply to any balance owed.in fact, it just disappeared. I had used my debit card to make one time payments on my bill. I had expressly forbidden them to take any type of automatic debit from my account. They left me $600 overdrawn with no money to pay the rent on payday. They then told me that the only way that I could get part of my money back was to reinstate the service! Old National Bancorp refused to stop the transaction and sided with DirectTV without asking why I disputed the charge.
It seems like they have a racket going on. I see many complaints on here about the same thing. This company engages in extortion and blackmail. I denounce them as a bunch of lying thieves. They prey on the poor and don't live up to their end of the bargain. I urge everyone to flood their call centers, sales numbers and agents with calls. I also urge people to contact their investors and register their displeasure. This company has to be stopped.
