DirectTV continues unfair practices and deception

DirectTV has been ripping me off since the day my equipment was installed. I should have left them a long time ago.

First I was forced to pay the previous homeowner's bill before DirectTV would activate my equipment. While the DirectTV tech stood in my home, 3 hours after he arrived and hooked up all necessary equipment, a rep on the phone told him they would not activate my service until a $100 overdue bill associated with my address was paid

In full. A satelite was already fastened to my roof, wires were run across my drop-ceiling, and this man claimed he would not be paid for his time unless I paid this $100 overdue bill.

After much anger, frustration, and back-and-forth with the rep on the phone, I agreed to pay the bill and fight DirectTV the next day to get my money back. This money was never returned to me.

Second, I recently purchased a new TV and decided to upgrade to dvr service. My husband called and asked about any special pricing and/or promotions for loyal customers in good-standing. He was told that we would receive the equipment and the installation for free - a $200 value. WONDERFUL! We were warned that our DirectTV account would show that we were charged for the equipment and installation, but that we should not worry because it was only for documentation and that we would not be charged the $200. Well, that was a lie. 1 week before Christmas, $312 was pulled from my checking account.

My husband called DirectTV and demanded our money be immediately returned to our checking account. The rep did not argue about the pricing - she agreed that our equipment and install should have been free; however, we would not be reimbursed for 2 to 4 weeks. After my husband complained about the time-frame the rep told him that, as a courtesy, we would not be billed for our monthly HD charge for 6-months. Another lie.

Within a few hours, our DirectTV account, NOT OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT, was credited for $212. I continued to check both our DirectTV account and our Checking Account daily to see that we were issued the PROPER refund; instead, I received my DirectTV bill yesterday and:
1. The credit for $212 is gone
2. I owe $110 for my service
3. I owe $9.99 for my monthly HD service
NOTHING the rep told us was true or honored. We were ripped off, lied to and, quite frankly, robbed of our money! My checking account was overdrawn because of their lies and deceitful practices, and a week before Christmas I found myself with an overdrawn checking account and 3 kids who were becoming increasingly excited about Christmas day - and I did not have the money I thought I would to buy for them... What a terrible thing to do a person!

I will attempt to cancel my service today, but I'm positive I will be charged outrageous fees to do so... And I simply cannot afford that right now. So I am stuck with DirectTV; they have ripped me off for a total of $325 and have caused financial hardship, pain, suffering, aggravation, and frustration...
