I was a contented DirectTv customer for over 10 years.in November I was late paying my bill. My service was suspended. I had other more important bills to clear up in a temporary bad situation.
I happend to go online to check my bank balance and I was overdrawn. DirectTv had run a charge for my balance of $124 with no authorization. I called the company and was informed that "it looks like we had a card number so we used it". I had never tied a card to my account for billing but had used the card online to pay my bill. They simply helped themselves.
Ultimately I did owe them the $124. The did not have any right to draft my account without permission. Surely this is illegal, or should be.
I did file a complaint at my bank. I filled out a fraudulent charge form but did not request a reversal, I did owe the bill.
I closed an account I'd had for over 10 years. I will never do business with DirectTv again. If thats how they want to operate I want nothing to do with them.
