First Extended Warranty
Corp The Good, The Bad and the Very Ugly ripoff Newark Ohio

I have had 3 issues with First Extended Warranty. I have a 99 Chrysler 300M and a control module went out. It controlled pretty much everything electrical - A/C, windows, stereo. So I took this car to the dealership closest to my home in Chicago at the time and was told First Extended had been contacted and they denied my claim. I bought the 'high tech' plan which was supposed to cover everything (or so I was told). $500 out of my pocket later I'm back on the road.

About 6 months later I start to notice my transmission slipping. Again I was in Chicago and this time I took my car to a Cottman Transmission (Mundelein, IL) and was told I couldn't take my car from the repair shop. I asked why and the owner told me if I took my car knowing that the transmission was bad, First Extended would void that part of my warranty! Luckily Enterprise Rental was right next door so I left my car there and got the rental I needed and was on my way. A WEEK later my car was finally done. The owner of the transmission place told me it took only a few days to fix but they had to wait so long for approval from First Extended. Finally my baby was fixed and out of a $1,980 tranmission bill I only ended up paying $176.00. Not too shabby. Mind you I only paid $1,500 for the warranty so they're already in the hole on my contract.

Finally last week (November 20,03) my sway bar and power rack and pinion steering was needing replaced. The dealer told me $1,600! I almost crapped my pants right there at the service desk. Then I remembered I had a warranty through First Extended and I gave them the info and they called for me. This time I ended up paying $250 and First Extended paid $1,630... Again not horrible.

Needless to say after hearing all the horror stories on here I feel DAMN lucky to have gotten what I did. First Extended ended up paying out over $3,500 and only took in $1,500 from me. Extended Warranties DO work but the reasoning of how or why I don't know. I will say I did call and tell them I was calling the attorney general for my state unless some things started getting done (this was on the control module) and ever since it was a piece of cake.

I wish all of you the best in working with First Extended.
