Wrong Company Called, Then Debit Card Overdrafts of $700

All my family wanted was some simple television programming! So we decided on a company I was to call.

While I should be more cautious, I called the wrong company. That is where the deception began. As you may know, many companies offer a credit to those who referred you. As I was discussing our family's hook up date, channels and the person who referred us, the sales representative simply pretended I was talking with the right company and said they would credit the referral person's account.

We agreed on a price of $34.99 a month. Well, of the 100 channels, 3 were watchable. The remaining 97 had nothing to do with our interests or concerns or wants. Local TV was now costing me big time.

Oh, as well, the monthly charges swelled, and within 2 months I owed Direct Tv $166.00. Mind you, there were no Pay For View or things like that, just local TV. Our family has three disabled people, and we're being ripped off and lied to by slick willies.

My concerns and complaints fell on deaf ears. So we felt the contract was broken by the Direct Tv people. We quickly canceled and sent their equipment back, and all is not well.

Now I signed the contract in good faith with a company who held themselves out as honest, fair and of a quality beyond reproach. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Never again will I use e-banking or direct deposit. Why? My girlfriend let me use her debit card to make a one time payment. There is no such thing anymore as a man's word! Today she was notified that she is some $700.00 in overdrafts because Direct Tv has gone into her account and taken money. By the way, the bank lets them. It makes no difference that there was no money there to take. After all, the bank gets to bounce everything and charge her, and they lose nothing.

There is no way companies should be authorized to just take; this is enough. If they have a claim, bring it to court. Self help is not the answer. Circumventing the courts is not right, nor should this be allowed.

I'm a disabled veteran, so I guess it's no big deal. After all, who cares anymore about their neighbor?
