I ordered Direct TV after seeing an ad that proclaimed "LOCAL CHANNELS NOW AVAILABLE." After the service was installed (a process that took 3 hours) the tech called Direct TV in order to activate my account. The Direct TV associate then said "you know that local channels aren't available, right?"
Now, 6 months later, local channels are finally available, but Direct TV wants $49.00 to install additional equipment. To get the install for free, I would have to sign a new one-year deal.
Direct TV used misleading advertising, and now wants me to pay for it. I would not reccomend this company to anyone, in fact I plan to make a point of telling everyone that I know how sleazy this company is.
When I called their "customer NO-service line" I could not speak to a supervisor. I am counting the days until my contract expires. Direct TV's ads — featuring customers who write letters in praise of the company — make me sick. Direct TV does not care about good service, or ethical advertising... Only about making money.
