Black Brick Refunded Then Recharged Twice After Late Pickup

I special ordered black brick on 4/27/06, in both the traditional square and bullnose styles. I came to collect it on Saturday, 5/13. After paying, I loaded one pallet and drove it to the job site, and did the same with the second. When I returned for the third pallet, I saw there was no bullnose. I could not finish the job, so I decided to go with red brick.

The man at the pro desk said he would collect the black brick from the job site, so I could use my truck to load the red brick, since my workers at the site were waiting on brick to build platforms. Because of their mistakes, he refunded the whole price of the brick on 5/13 and said he would come out to the site that day. He did not show up until Monday, 5/15/06, and by then the brick was gone.

On 5/16/06 they billed my account again for the two pallets. The receipt says RECHARGE TO CUSTOMER where a customer would normally sign. I called Citibank, which is Home Depot's creditor, and given the facts they reversed the charges. Then I was recharged again on 1/17.

I contacted corporate, where APRIL only calls the store and says it supports its managers' decisions. Their position was that the employee was doing me a favor by collecting the brick, that I was responsible for protecting it, and that I should have called Home Depot when he did not come. My view is that Home Depot should tell customers it is doing them a favor before it commits to something, and where was Home Depot's call to say it was not coming?

I went back to Citibank, which says the dispute is a matter for Home Depot and me, although Citibank is the party that must collect. Corporations with no responsibility!
