Home Depot complaints: where to take a problem
This page was checked on 2026-10-20. homedepot.com returned an 'Access Denied' page to our automated browser that day, so we could not read the company's return policy, price-adjustment, installation or credit pages and do not quote them here. Use the Customer Service pages on homedepot.com or the store, and keep order numbers, receipts, contracts and screenshots.
- Company line. The corporate Contact Us page says under Customer Questions: 'call 1-800-HOME-DEPOT (1-800-466-3337)', and links to homedepot.com/c/customer_service (read 2026-10-20).
- Installation and special-order projects. Archive complaints about kitchens, flooring, roofing and windows often name the store and a contractor or manufacturer. The company's own contract or order documents, which we have not read, say who is responsible for the work; ask for them in writing.
- Card charges. If you paid by credit card, your card issuer's dispute process is separate from the retailer's. The Connecticut Attorney General's October 5, 2026 release describes Home Depot helping customers of a third-party showroom tenant file credit card chargebacks (see the regulator section).
- Financial products. The CFPB complaint page says it accepts complaints about credit cards, credit reports, debt collection, mortgages and other listed products, online or at (855) 411-2372 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET).
- State attorney general. Home Depot is headquartered in Georgia. The Georgia Consumer Protection Division site lists consumer complaints at (404) 651-8600 and toll-free in Georgia at (800) 869-1123, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Other states' attorneys general take complaints for stores located there.

Regulator actions and relief: Wren Kitchens, data breach, lead paint rule
Connecticut Attorney General, October 5, 2026 (Wren Kitchens customers). The release says Wren Kitchens 'abruptly filed for bankruptcy on April 24', that it had ten independent showrooms inside Home Depot stores in Connecticut, and that 'Home Depot did not own Wren, and the Wren pop-ups were independently operated.' It says Home Depot 'voluntarily assisted 286 customers, resulting in $1.235 million in relief': $303,000 in credit card chargebacks and $932,000 in gift cards or checks for customers who received only part of an order. the release says Home Depot will continue to offer help to Connecticut customers through October 31 (2026) at [email protected]. The release also reports 30 percent off special-order cabinets, 5 percent off special-order countertops and three-year no-interest financing at the Wren showroom stores. This was voluntary assistance announced by the Attorney General, not a court order or settlement.
Multistate data breach settlement, November 24, 2020. Connecticut's release says the attorneys general of Connecticut, 45 other states and the District of Columbia obtained a $17.5 million settlement from Home Depot over a 2014 breach in which malware captured payment card data from self-checkout customers 'between April 10 and September 13, 2014.' Home Depot agreed to security measures including a qualified Chief Information Security Officer reporting to senior executives and the board, encryption, two-factor authentication, penetration testing, staff training and a post-settlement security assessment. The release does not state an admission of liability.
Lead-safe renovation rules (EPA, DOJ and three states). In United States v. Home Depot U.S.A., Inc., No. 1:20-cv-05112-MHC (N.D. Ga.), a consent decree was entered by the court on April 22, 2021 (the signature page reads 'SO ORDERED' with that date). It provides for a civil penalty of $20,750,000, of which $19,218,000 is payable to the United States, $750,000 to Utah, $50,000 to Rhode Island and $732,000 to the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards. The decree states that the defendant 'does not admit the allegations set forth in the Complaint.' Home Depot's Form 10-K for the year ended February 1, 2026 says the decree was formally terminated in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025 and that stipulated penalties paid under it totaled approximately $1.7 million, which it says it collected from third-party installers.
Who operates Home Depot
The Home Depot, Inc. is a Delaware corporation that, according to its Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended February 1, 2026, was incorporated in 1978 and has its Store Support Center (corporate headquarters) at 2455 Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30339, telephone (770) 433-8211. The 10-K says that at the end of fiscal 2025 it operated 2,359 stores in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam), Canada and Mexico, and that it also provides home improvement installation services and tool and equipment rental. The filing's Legal Proceedings item states that the company 'is party to various legal proceedings arising in the ordinary course of its business' but not one that management believes will have a material adverse effect on its financial position, results of operations or cash flows.
BBB's page for The Home Depot lists a different incorporation date (1979-03-26) from the 10-K's year (1978); we report both as each source states it. Complaints and lawsuits against a retailer of this size involve many separate stores, contractors and manufacturers; a case or complaint naming one of them does not describe the whole company.
