About a year ago, I got a phone solicitation from Z-Tell to switch my phone service from AT&T. I was paying about $50.00 per month for basic service from AT&T.
Z-Tell promised a lower rate and I told them that I wanted the most basic package.
The first bill was low, however succeeding bills were at $60.00 per month - more than I had been paying for AT&T. I stopped using the phone and did not pay the bill. Told them to cancel service.
When I called, they insisted that I had signed up for the other plan. When I asked why I would have signed up for a plan that cost more money for the most basic service, they had no response. Continued to insist that I had signed up the more expensive plan.
When I asked if we could come to a compromise to pay part of the bill and restore service, they refused and said I had to pay entire bill. When I told them that they had cheated me and charged me more than I had requested, they insisted that they were right and I was wrong.
