One year ago when I first got my local phone service, I requested "basic service"; I specifically asked for no extras. On my first statement I was enrolled in their "emergency road service plan" for $8.95 a month. After several phone calls and lots of time spent on hold, I finally had the charges removed.
In February I enrolled in their new high speed DSL service at the rate of $29.95/month. However, when I received my first bill the charge was for $49.95/month plus they charged $4.95 for an optional "home protection plan" that I never signed up for. It took six phone calls and several hours to get this service cancelled and my account credited. It gave me a migraine headache!
On my May 10 bill I was charged for a "home protection plan" at $4.95/month which I never signed up for. When I called to find out what the charge was for and to have it removed, the Alltel service rep. Was really rude; she said it took a long time to read the notes on my account because I sure complained a lot. Sometimes when I tried to resolve issues with respect to the above problems, they put me on hold for up to 15 minutes and/or I was disconnected.
Additionally, the phone number listed in the Alltel phone book yellow pages for Alltel is actually for the — ! I believe that what they are doing is called "cramming"???
