9-27-13 I signed a contract with Empire for the following Saturday. The salesman seemed knowledgeable. I was GUARANTEED that there would be a crew of 5-8 Empire installers arriving on Saturday and the job would be completed that day. The installers were supposed to arrive at 8 am and showed up at 1:30. One man showed up. I asked him where the crew was and he told me he was the only one Empire had hired. This should have been the first clue that there was going to be problems. The first day he pulled up some tile and some carpet, but did not cover anything to protect the furniture. He worked for 5 or 6 hours and left. He said he would be back on Sunday at 8 am and didn't arrive until 9:30. He brought another person this time, but I learned he was not an installer. The installer said he was a friend and the friend swept, did cleanup work, and broke tile up on the floor. (This should have never happened because the installer brought someone into my home that was not hired by Empire and this could have caused more problems than it did.) Meanwhile, this work created a terrible, horrible mess in my home. Dirt is in my cupboards, drawers, on my counters, on and in my furniture, antique piano, antique furniture, inside my TV and electronics. My fireplace is a different color from the dirt. My windows, blinds, and drapes are dirty. He did not cover anything and things inside my home looks like someone poured soot from a fireplace all over it. He worked until approximately 1:20 and did not return from lunch until almost 4:00 - approximately three hour lunch. I asked him where he had been and he said he was a screw up, made bad decisions, and started crying. During the day he received 3 phone calls from someone he was arguing with and using bad language. To make matters worse, the person the installer brought asked me if I had a dog because he noticed the sign on my gate. He said that if I had a dog he wouldn't rob me. Wow! I asked them to leave and the installer started crying again and said he was a single parent and needed the job. He offered to work all night and the next day and would buy me a new TV because he said he knew he had probably damaged it with the dirt. I said they needed to leave. He kept working, crying, and begging me to give him another chance. I then called Empire and told them that I had asked them to leave, they would not, and that I would ask them again. This time, however, I told Empire I would call the police if they did not leave. I was trying to give them a chance... I don't know why. I then told them to leave and they did. I have been in constant contact trying to resolve this. Today, 10-4-13 the regional manager called and called me a liar without using the word. He said the situation has been thoroughly investigated and that the installer said he did not say or do those things (of course he did, he was trying to save his job). The regional manager said that my complaints were baseless and unfounded. He said he would have my house cleaned, and give $1000 off my bill for the trouble, and Empire would proceed to finish the job. I do not want, nor trust, that this will be a good decision. At one point I said I wanted a signed document stating that Empire would indeed clean my home to its prior state and they would come, remove their products and release me from the contract because of their inability to do the work. He was not happy, was arrogant, condescending and just plain rude when he told me he would contact me again... Another weekend in this filth. BEWARE: Empire has lied from the moment the salesman arrived at my house. Beware: spend your money elsewhere. This is a disastrous situation.
