I ran by Edgars Bakery at the Colonnade in Birmingham, Alabama on 09/20 early on that morning. My to-go taking order was a little long, though I had calls to make and was not terribly aware. The cashier checked on my order, and a few minutes later the manager, Marcus, explained what was taking my order a little longer and was so apologetic. He insisted I choose any item from their bakery for having to wait. Then, he gave me an extra item to boot. Where can you get service like that anywhere today? Restaurants might apologize for taking longer to prepare a dish, but probably not. Service industries do not apologize for making you wait all day for a repair and neither do retail establishments who typically make you feel they are doing you a favor by ringing up a purchase. This should be a lesson to any customer service-oriented business on how to treat customers. Marcus gets it! Edgars is so fortunate to have this manager. And by the way, my bread pudding pancakes were delicious.
