At 4:24pm, I got a text from (909) 973-8793 saying, "Your Target entry last month has WON! Go to TargetContests.com and enter your winning code 36273 to claim your FREE $1000 Target gift card within 24hrs".
It reeked of spam, so I didn't reply, let alone go to the website. I figured the number would surface on at least one online complaint forum and ran a browser-search on it - lo and behold, here it is!
Out of curiosity, I tried calling the number a day after having received the text message, and I got an automated reply from my phone carrier (Verizon) saying the number had been changed.
