A young man named Jason Campbell came to my door today shortly before lunch. Jason claimed he was selling magazines for a marketing class and was in the lead to win a trip to Cancun. He even asked me to go along as a tour guide since I had been before. I always like to help anyone who is making an honest effort to better themselves so I told him I would look at his list. He told me that if I ordered he would give me a "Bug off" sticker to get rid of other kids in his class. I asked him where he was from and he told me Omaha.
Looking over the list, all ridiculous in price, but at that point he was already sitting on my stairs and my husband was pulling in the drive. My husband asked Jason where he was going to college and he said he wasn't, that he was doing marketing to get ready for his upcoming class, which immediately thru up a flag for me. My husband picked out a magazine, Jason told me if I paid in cash he would get double credit today. (FLAG) I told him I only carried checks. I gave him a check for $50. He handed me the piece of paper off of the receipt 1/2 inch by 3 inches that said (Bug off!!! Jason's winning) When he handed me my receipt, it said make checks payable to Palmetto Marketing, Inc. (FLAG) I knew at that point that he was making money for himself, not school work.
After he left I told my husband we got "taken". He got online and found this site. Desperate to get my check back, my husband jumped in his vehicle and went looking for him. He was standing at the end of the block, waiting for his ride. We got our check back and the receipt (all three of them, including Jason's copy.) Just then the white van with Florida plates came by and picked him up, my husband told the guy to get out of here and not to come back.
My husband called the police and they came by for a report. The officer told us that they had already had several reports on them and had asked them to leave town. He said if anyone comes to the door again, ask them if they have a permit, if they don't tell them to leave.
