This is what the guy told me:
He claimed he was a college student living near by. He said that for his communications class he had to practice going door to door. He was also selling magazines for his class so he could win a trip. He was very funny and easygoing. When I asked him which college he went to he avoided the answer. For some reason I did not catch this immediately until after he left.
I did a search on Google and Yahoo and found this site.
After I figured out that it was a scam I got in my car and went to find him. He was knocking on doors at the first set of apartments. I told him that I changed my mind and wanted my check back. I told him I knew it was a scam and that if he did not give me my check back I would call the cops. He tried to tell me that it was legitimate and that I was wrong. After threatening him a second time with calling the cops, he finally surrendered my check.
Please, cancel your checks. You will not receive a magazine and you will be out the cash. Let your friends and neighbors know as well
