Mishandled delivery and lie about email

On 11-10-11 I shipped a parcel from Florida to Connecticut. The tracking number was 1Z92A56F4272721433. I was told it would be there 11-15-11 and I was promised an email notifying me when it was delivered. I never received an email. Tracking indicated it was delivered at 6:36 PM on the promised date. I called the recipient the next morning to see if it had arrived. He had not seen it. Tracking further showed it had been signed for by a person who was not the addressee. The intended recipient had to go searching for it and luckily for UPS, he did track it down. This should not have happened. This parcel was insured for $500 and one would think better care would have been exercised to make sure it was handed over to the proper person. If it had not been located, there is no telling how much trouble it would have been trying to collect the insurance or get it replaced. From what I've read, it would have been my loss and the best I would have gotten was a "sorry for the inconvenience". I've had years of good service from UPS but now they seem to have gone the way of all businesses. Get your money and service is a thing of the past.
