I was contacted by one Thomas Peitowski a mortgage agent with Quicken Loans
This is how the Scam works.
1. Promises a no fee loan
2. Asks for credit card details just for security
3. Claims he can get you a loan in a few days
4. Then you are contacted by someone totally different and you are asked for all sorts of documents.
5. The more you provide them the more they ask - very skilled operators
6. Then they arrange a bogus appraisal called a drive by (never heard of this, shootings -yes, appraisals no)
7. Ask for even more documents told you they are very skilled at this.
8. They charge the credit card - in my case $400 and then deny you the loan on a fictitious reason - in my case my house did not have collateral, despite the fact their own drive by appraiser said the equity in the house was $70-90,000 for a house which had only $190,000 balance to pay and my annual earning were in excess of $200,000.
9. When reported to the company the supervisor then claimed that the reason given was incorrect but he would find some other reason to deny the loan - which has not been provided to date, they returned approx $146.11 of the money scammed from me and they pocketed $253.89.
Please do not fall into this trap
I got a mortgage from my local bank for a much better rate in 15 min after meeting with the manager.
