I was led to believe that The Realty Law Firm had obtained a Loan Modification from Freddie Mac that turned out to be fraudlent.in order to persuade me to pay the Attorney's Retainer Fee which by Law was not to be paid until a Modification was accepted, I was told that I would receive the paperwork via overnight mail, I paid half the fee and never received the signed Retainer Agreement or the Modification documents. The payment I did make was my Mortgage payment that was due for the Month of October that I was told I didn't have to pay since they had obtained a waiver of the Mortgage payments for 3 months. I refused to make the remaining payment until I recieved the documents as promised. I received harassing phone calls attempting to get me to pay the balance disguised as requests for "additional" updated documents for a Modification that I was told was already finalized. I sent a request for a refund of the money I paid, that was outright refused! When I researched the Company and the Attorney associated with it, (Bruce Weiner), the information I found was disheartening. I wish I had done the reasearch more thoroughly, and not listened to the lies I was told. If I had continued to let them string me along, I could have lost my home. The amount of money I paid them caused me a great financial hardship-I have yet to make the mortgage payment I missed last October. Because of missing that payment I was not approved for a "legitimate" Modification. That hurts a lot because, both my husband and I are sick and on fixed incomes. I filed complaints with the California Bar Association, the California Attorney General's Office and Federal Agencies dealing with Mortage Modification fraud. I hope someone takes a look at this complaint, and something is done to prosecute everyone envolved in this scam. I'm sure there must be hundreds if not thousands of us out there. I live in Georgia-I suspect I'm not the only they've scammed and lied to.
