Orbitz gives lots of highlight to its price assurance guarantee, but the details about how it does not apply to vacation packages is hidden amidst the fine print. I booked a vacation package on Orbitz and then found it a short time later at the website for the airline that Orbitz booked me on for $175 less. If it was the airfare that had changed the price I would understand, but the only difference in price was related to the hotel. And it was the exact same hotel and the exact same type of room, so the airline site was not beating Orbitz on the airfare, only on the hotel charge. Still Orbitz wouldn't budge on giving ANY consideration. Consumers Beware: Since there is no price assurance guarantee on Orbitz for packages, DO NOT BOOK A VACATION PACKAGE ON ORBITZ UNTIL YOU HAVE MADE THE EXACT SEARCH ON EVERY WEBSITE AND ARE 100% CERTAIN THAT IT TRULY IS THE LOWEST PRICE!!! Because once you pay for the package, you are stuck with it unless you are willing to forfeit the non-refundable airfare and the cancellation fee, which would probably make doing so highly illogical. Unfortunately, this is the second time that an experience with Orbitz ended up costing me more money than going with another site.
