I received a letter today saying that they are collecting on debt due to Hollywood Video. I know that I was not in any way late on my videos before this company went under. I was familiar with the staff there and always received phone calls if my dvd was even a few days late. They listed the movies that were past due. 2 of the movies I have never even seen. I am not so much concerned about the 35.91 as I am that it is a false claim and wonder how many more of these are out there. Why was I NOT notified prior to it being sent to collections. I am not in the practice of NOT paying my bills. I don't want to pay this and I don't want others to either. Is this going to cause damage to my credit? I called the company and they did not help me at all and just said to follow the claims process on the back of the letter. The claims process only says that I must call to dispute, which is what I did.
