When I arrived at the store I was greeted and everything seemed normal, after a couple of minutes the same employee (who I later found out was actually the manger of store) greeted me again I waived dismissively and continued browsing. I walked by the employee who was gathered in a small huddle with the plain clothes security guard, he says to the guard "Don't say anything to her because she may give you a dirty look too!" Obviously he said this loud enough for me to hear and it wasn't a secret they were talking about me. The guard and Manger, I guess were trying to be flirtatious and I of course wasn't entertaining it, since I did come to Foot Locker to shop!
Now I replied with “what are you talking about? ” and sarcastically said “was I not excited enough for you? ” He then again accused me, this time to my face, of rolling my eyes at him, at the same time the security guard is asking me “why was I so mean? ” and followed that with “It because we’re black? ” Now!!! At this point! I was furious, I said to the employee/manager “ listen I apologize if you felt I rolled my eyes at you” and to the guard who just accused me of being a racist I said “I have nothing left to say to you” and I walked away, This man continued talking, and provoked the huge argument that followed. Yes, an argument that took place throughout the store while people were shopping.
I have never, ever, in my life experienced such disgusting behavior from people at a store. I was a potential customer and not only did they basically harass me I was accused of being a racist! The unbelievable part was, that the so called manger (peter) did nothing! He not only initiated this ordeal but he did and said nothing to the guard who was completely, without a doubt, out of line!
My lack of enthusiasm to greet any employee at any store should not be a just cause to be publicly labeled a racist! This display was not only extremely inappropriate but a huge legal matter!
I hope my voice was heard, and I will continue to share this experience with other site!
