I had been with your DIRECTV for 4 years and now am being told I have to pay 260 dollars to cancel my service. I didn't even know I had a contract and didn't until I found out today that my contract was reinstated when a DVR was replaced by THEM due to equipment malfunction that was no fault of mine. Had I know this, I would have canceled then. I have 2 DVRs—one i have to return (which is fine) and the other one they said I could keep (no idea what they expect me to do with it!)
I have been in the customer service industry for 10 years and I will tell you 'negative' word of mouth is very powerful so be sure to pass this on.
All I am trying to do is make my dollar stretch further since so many of us Americans have lost money in this economy over the past 14 months. I imagine DIRECTV is doing pretty well as a company since they force their customers to pay in order to get out from under their crappy service.
I'm trying out U-Verse right now due to a huge promotion they are running - now if it ends up I don't like them, I won't be a returning customer to DIRECTV.
Oh, their CEO's email address is chase. [email protected]
