I needed to book a flight, so I was told about the GreenDot cards. So I bought one last night, put $500 on it, came home waited 60 min. Only to be told on the online activation that the activ. Number is not valid. I go through this for about an hour, can't get anyone on the phone, call the manager of the Walgreens where I bought it, get nowhere. Today, I spent 7 hours trying to get somewhere with these people only to be told "there's a hold on your card". Excuse me, but WHAT HOLD??? I just gave my CASH for this card plus the $9.95 to buy it and I can't use my money nor can they refund my money. Even the manager of Walgreens tried to help me (no refunds from the store you purchased it at), but he was at a loss too. Here's GreenDot's story: "every card they're activating right now is on hold because of their tech dept." they're "diligently working on it", "sorry for the inconvenience". Most of the time, you can't even get a live person and when you try, the automated system tells you "sorry-goodbye" and hangs up. Basically, I'm out $500. So what I've been doing all day is telling every retailer that I've been in what happened with th GreenDot cards and to tell their customers NOT to buy them. I cannot believe this company! Someone is getting paid and it's not the consumer. If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to resolve it let me know.
