Leeds Property Management
Con Artists

When moving into a new building managed by Leeds Property Management, I did the full initial inspection of the apartment along with the current building manager, at that time. The building manager wrote down everything that we found wrong with the place. This included the vertical blinds that were missing and uneven, up on a high 18' window that couldn't be reached without a ladder.

I asked for a copy of the lease and the problems with the apartment, but never received either, even after a couple more requests via phone.

Other minor problems were accounted for, along with average wear n' tear in the bathroom and kitchen.

After the blinds, nor anything else we called in about during ur 6 month stay, was repaired, I repeatedly called Leeds for the issue. I was told by management, who refused to give me their name that they would send someone over immediately to fix the blinds.

When we decided to move out, the new building manager came in and inspected the apartment. He found nothing wrong with the place. The smoke alarm at that time was on the kitchen counter, which I had pointed out to him. AT the time, we were in a hurry to get out of the apartment to move back east, and there were a couple pieces of furntiure still there. I asked him if he knew of any charities that would come pick them up and he said, "don't worry about it, I'll take care of it."

A couple months after moving out, I get a bill from Leeds. They charged me for the repair of the blinds, a new smoke detector, wear n' tear in the bathroom and kitchen, and a fee to move out the furniture from the apartment. They also kept my security deposit for moving out early... A consequence that was not stated in the lease that I was never given a copy of.

I tried contacting the building manager, left voicemails on his cell phone, and never heard back.

I contacted my attorney, who then wrote a letter to Leeds. They never responded. Then I started getting letters from collection agencies. Attorney tried to contact them again, with no response. Now the debt is on my credit... This issue is still going on. They are trying to rip me off for money not owed!

This happens all the time. So many companies try to take advantage of people. It pisses me off so much. I'm glad I found this site.
