I rented an apartment for 6 months and moved reluctantly because of false promises of the owner to supply blinds for the windows which I had to install myself, and because of the poor condition the unit and building were in. First off, the unit was not done when i was told It would be and I was left hanging as to when I could move in. The move in date kept getting postponed by the owner. He finally said i could but there was a man still in the apartment for two days installing tile as i was moving in. He did a really poor job, leaving marks all over the tile and not even finishing in spots. Some tiles were falling off since it was done carelessly and incorrectly.
After I moved I expected my deposit to be returned shortly after but after taking their time refunding it I was also furious to find they shorted my refund 100$ stating it was for marks on the tile which were there there when I moved in and to my knowledge caused by the tile man. I have called once or twice every week for the past month and each one of my calls is dodged by the company. I feel they stole my $100 from me. The apartment was in the same shape if not better when i moved, since i supplied and left stick up blinds in two of the windows, the other two windows never had blinds installed even though the owner, Ned, told me he would provide them and have them installed. I thought I was doing a favor to the apartment owner by leaving the blinds I installed myself. I patched up some of the tile that came loose myself making it look much better than the previous person who installed it had left it. I was repaid for my kindness of fixing their mistakes and installing blinds for them, by being ripped off. I am just glad to be moved out but really think I deserve my $100 back and if not more for my trouble. I would strongly urge anyone NOT to rent and apartment from Colony Apartments or do business with Ned Impastato.
