Drive Time
Credit Destroyers!

First, I want to say that since my occurrance with Drive Time, it has definitely taught me to be cautious of the purchases that I make, whether a car, home, etc. I would also like say that it is very important that you do your research on the situation that you may be experiencing with Drive Time because once your account make it to the collections department they will tell you things to scare you into making payments to them. Which to me if you no longer have their property you should not be obligated to pay them anything. For example, I was told that if I did not pay them after they took my vehicle that they would garnish my wages. Well after I was told that, I begin to look up Georgia Law on reposessions. It states that after they take your vehicle that they have to notify you in writing that they car was taken, where they are holding the care so that you can get you items out of the car, and the date and time when the car will be sold, whether it is a private or public auction. Well, Drive Time never did any of that for me. So, when I was contacted by Drive Time in regards to the deficency balance (balance due after they sell the vehicle) I informed them they wrongfully repossessed my vehicle. After I told them that they sold the account to a company that begin to call me everyday and harass me at work. So, I consulted with a lawyer at the Atlanta Bar Association. She informed me that if they continued to call me that I could sue them because they were threatening me about garnishing my wages. She also told me to keep record of the phone calls and she sent them a letter the day I met with her and they never responded. The next thing I knew the company gave my account back to Drive Time and they tried to offer me a settlement, which I never took.in the meantime, I continued to work on my credit. Now after two years, I was able to go to Carmax and pick out a vehicle that I wanted and I also purchased me a home. I would like to say to Tbald1977, do not pay Drive Time anything else. Anything that you do with them get it in writing. You are wasting money paying them because they are know at several dealships for charging people high interest rates and that biweekly car note payment is ridiculous. I would suggest that if you want to nice car for a good price go to Jordan's Auto. They do not do credit checks and they were honest. I only had to put down 1500.00 to get a 2004 Volvo. They have cars of every selection. My car was a total lost iin May and I after my insurance cut them a check for my car I broke even. I mean I still owed them 200.00 but because I paid my note on time they wrote it off. Also, they give you 30 days after getting the car to make the first note and you only have to pay them once a month. It saved me over 200.00 per month. If you need additional information on them go to their website. Also, go to the Better Business Bureau website and inform them how you were taken advantage of my Drive Time. I did the same thing and through them and my lawyer they left me alone. I recovered well, but it was difficult. Hang in there and do not back down off of them. Let me know how everything turns out.
