Symantec Rebates
Ripoff false advertising, false promises Scottsdale

I purchased a copy of Norton Antivirus Pro (NAV Pro) 2004 from my local Staples store in Boise, Idaho in February. I promptly submitted the rebate form and required pieces cut from the packaging along with the receipt as instructed because I wanted the $30 back as soon as possible. The rebate "come-on" was instrumental in my decision to purchase.

I recently received a postcard from Symantec stating that I had failed to submit all required materials. This is false. I visited the website listed, rebatestatus.com, and entered a complaint. I received an automated msg stating I would hear in 2-3 days. That was a week ago. Yesterday I entered another complaint, but I don't expect to get any action from these people.

I believe the rebate processing firm invented a reason to deny my rebate application, as I submitted well within the time frame specified and provided all information requested.
