On July 18 I purchased $798.28 in computer goods, and of that $69.98 was for an extended service contract and an Instant Exchange policy, according to the salesperson. It also states directly on the receipt, Instant Exch.
On August 20 I had to return the motherboard I got, because the USB ports would work one minute and then the next just stop. They returned the motherboard without any problem. When I got home I had a very hard time removing the processor from the heat sink, and in the process I bent a couple of pins on the processor.
So naturally I went back to Fry's to make a second return. They wouldn't return the processor. They said, We won't return physically damaged processors. Had I known this, I would have never even bought the extended policy. The salesperson told me to my face that if I bought the Instant Exchange policy I wouldn't have any problems exchanging the product; but then, I end up with a $159.99 dollar chunk of silicon. We've got some issues.
I don't even care about the money at this point. A simple acknowledgement from Fryed would be fine. But thus far all I've gotten from them is nothing.
The other issue I have with Fry's is when someone returns a product with an intermittent problem, Fry's puts it right back on the shelf for someone else to buy. This has happened to me several times.in fact, I damaged the above processor when I was removing the motherboard, which obviously had been returned with defects.
