Today I received a phone call from the American Health Advantage offering me dental and vision insurance. I have looking into that kind of insurance, so I took the offer.
Sara told me that I would receive an email with all of the information. After an hour, I called the number that was on my cell phone and found that it was a non-working number! I began to feel sick in my gut-I'd been scammed!
I called my bank and told them to cancel the payment, but they said they can't cancel debit payments.
The contact number that they had was 800-747-6190, but the number that had called me was
785-200-0014.
I called the other number and was connected to Sara again. I told her that I had not received an email. She said that she had accidentally put a "d" in my email and that she would shoot the info right over. "Please do that while we're on the phone together, " I said.
"Oh, darn, my computer is so slow today, " she replied. "Trust me, it will be along soon."
I didn't trust her and told her that I wanted to cancel. At first she said the payment had already gone through and that I could not be refunded. I told her that I had spoken with my bank. She then proceeded to give me a confirmation number of cancellation. She said that the payment would be refunded, but not the $25 processing fee. I told her that I would see what the BBB thought about that. She said the money should be back in my account within two days.
When I did a search, I found the exact same phone numbers led to scam reviews. The Better
Business Bureau revoked their accreditation on 10/28/10 and has not changed that. They have an
"F" rating due to 61 complaints.
If I don't get my refund within two days, I plan to write here again. Whatever you do, don't
listen to anyone from the American Health Advantage!
