On 10/3/04 I purchased a big screen TV from Best Buy. Before making this purchase I specifically told the salesperson that we live in an apartment on the second floor and asked if this would be a problem. I was assured it would be no problem. On the 'directions' portion of the purchase order I indicated that we were in an apartment on the second floor.
When the delivery men showed up today the first thing out of their mouth was, "Is your husband home?" When I replied 'No' they said they had NO idea this was a second floor delivery and they couldn't do it with just the two of them. He informed me in a half-hearted voice that he would contact Best Buy and "... See what could be done." In a few minutes he knocked on my door again and informed me there was nothing they could do and that the item was simply 'undeliverable'.
1) The Best Buy sales person should NEVER have sold us the TV unless he was ABSOLUTELY certain it could be delivered.
2) Not discounting the difficulty of moving a big screen TV, but I believe the delivery men (who were obese) simply did not want to try to deliver the TV. That is their JOB. If they are physically unfit for the job... Don't do it!
