RIP-OFF promises quality danish furnishings in 4 weeks devliers NOTHING in 10

When I moved to Savannah for college I had some money that my boyfriend and I had saved to buy furniture for my apartment. We chose hauswerks because the furniture was so stylish and it was local so we thought delivery would not be a problem.

Were we ever wrong...

We spent almost $1,400 on furniture including a bed, mattress, dresser, nightstand, coffee table, and an end table. These items were purchased on December 27th. I write this on March 7th with one end table in my apartment and a sore back from sleeping on my floor for so long.

Our bedroom was promised to be delivered in 4 weeks and the end table and coffee table was to be picked up in one week. After we had not heard from the owner and our sales person Janice Hoppmann for 2 weeks we were downtown and decided to stop by the store. To our horror it was empty. A small sign taped to the door told us they were moving locations and were to be open again in a few weeks.

We were slightly relived but also upset that at out time of purchase we were not informed of any such move. I belive that a move of this sort that would affect a customers purchase should be divulged at point of sale. Apparently, Janice Hoppman thinks otherwise.

Over the next few weeks we would email and call hauswerks repeatedly and not get any response from them. Janice still has yet to call us about the status of our order once.

If we do happen to catch the store on the rare occasion that it is open, Janice Hoppmann tells us that she is expecting a shipment the next day and that we should expect delivery the day after.

This two day delivery promise went on for weeks. If we went in on Monday, delivery Wednesday. If we were in on a Tuesday, delivery is set for Thursday.

Many weeks later... Still nothing.

After the voicemail box was full of mine and many other customers messages and the store remained unopened during its posted business hours i resorted to writing hand-written notes asking someone to call me and slipping them into the door.

6 notes later, no one has called.

I dropped in a note last Saturday after a salesperson had assured me Janice Hoppmann would be in the store at this time. The store was closed. No one called me. Today I went back, 6 days later, and my note was still on the floor along with 5 others.

Unless you plan on paying for furniture you will never recive, purchase nothing from Janice Hoppmann and Hauswerks.
