Don't expect to get any help from apple with lost/stolen items. Their process is as follows: I have to report the ipod stolen to the police (duh). If the police find the ipod, they can contact apple's customer service, which will then contact apple's security dept. I guess the police is to sent the ipod to apple. Finally, the security department will return the ipod to me.
Ok... If I report it stolen (with the s/n) the police would return it to ME - seeing as I have the store receipt, s/n and REPORTED IT STOLEN! And yes, they can track when a Ipod is re-registered. They just won't. The police have to "find" it. They won't even tell the police if it has been re-registered.
The rep spoke to me loudly and as if I were a red headed step-child that was annoying him as he played a video game. He was completely rude and then when I became angry with being spoken to as if I were a child, he says "I know you're frustrated, but you need to listen." I told him I was frustrated because he was speaking to me like I was mentally deficient.
