Direct TV charged me a deactivation fee of $320 for cancelling a service agreement I supposedly entered into when I upgraded my service on one reciever to HD. I have had service from Direct TV for over two years (fulfilling my original agreement). When I protested that I had not entered into a new agreement, did not believe I had signed anything or recieved any written notice of a new agreement I was informed that I was agreeing to a new (2 year) service agreement by activating the new HD reciever and that I had been informed of the new agreement by the salesperson at Best Buy.
That didn't happen either, nor was there anything in any literature in the reciever box or sales reciept about a new agreement. They then proceeded to charge me a $5 late fee after 54 working days had elapsed after my final bill and immediately charged my credit card.
