I cancelled my Direct TV account on 11/24 after 35 months of service only to be told by them I owed a $260.00 early cancellation fee. I had gotten a HD reciever to replace an existing reciever on 1-19 which according to them extended my contract an additional 24 months.
It is my word against thiers that this deplorable practice was explained to me or I had gone to thier website to read the contract/agreement that states any additional reciever extends your contract.
Why would a company hold an existing consumer hostage for upgrading equipment?
