I was given a gift of a GPS that is kept locked up in the store. I went to return it because I have a Nav system in my truck. I understood not having a receipt would put me at the mercy of the store so I expected a store credit and the value of the lowest price ever offered. I was contemplating buying an IPAD so I would be spending extra $. I was told that corp. Policy now says no return no receipt. Talked to the MOD (Mr Cherry of the Clearwater FL store on US 19) he said the same, called customer service she said it was the store manager’s call not corp. And the store manager said no way. I asked to talk to her supervisor and found myself with an arrogant person (Did not get name... She mumbled and I was diving at the time) who said to me “Well people go to WalMart then try to return them for a profit” So now I am a thief? Of what maybe $20, and that also made me laugh about them having the lowest price, because according to the customer service girl they don't. When I told her I did not appreciate her inference she told me I was being rude and that she was not being accusing. She then proceeded to tell that I would not stop explaining my situation, so how could she resolve the issue. I informed her fine, I am listening to you and she told me she was not gonna continue if I was gonna be snippet. After her trying to dress me down with attitude she said she was gonna check and see if another store was willing to work with me. After 20 mins on hold she informed me her operations director said no receipt no luck! I told her then I will donate it to my church for the thrift store and claim full retail value and when they ask me why would donate a $300 item that is still in the UNOPEND box with all the taped areas still in tact I would let them know that Best Buy is not customer friendly. I let her know after all her speeches about compromise and having to listen her inflated image of self that she did nothing and if she thought I was difficult and that if they treat honest people like this (crooks don't complain) that she better get ready for a lot of days of real conflict!
By the way this took about 2hrs.
