Ripoff, charge after 4 years! Scam, never told

Well yesterday my parents got a phone call from a man at a collection agency who was looking for me (I have not lived at home for 2 years) They told my father that I was in financial trouble and that they needed to talk to me asap about writing bad checks. My dad wouldnt give out my number and instead took his and called me.

I in turn having no idea what was going on called them back. The man told me that in october I wrote a check to aeropostal for $33.28 cents and the check bounced and that their insurance company paid it back then. But now they want almost $200 from me. Mind you I wa not aware this happened.

4 years ago when I was 17 I had a bank account with hsbc. One day I went to the bank atm to check my balance and it ate my card. I went to the teller and she told me that this card had been reported stolen and she called security.

After I proved that I was me she told me that some girl called in and reported that her card was stolen (pretending to be me) so my account had been froze for almsot a week without me knowing.

My pay check did not clear and a check that I wrote to aeropostal was denied and aeropostal called me. I straightened it out finally with the bank (or so I thought) and they told me they would reverse all charges and that they were sorry and that this never happens blah blah blah.

So I closed my account. Now I am getting this letter from aeropostal saying they were never paid and I owe them $200. I mean come on I would have paid the $33 measly dollars. They are telling me they are going to take me to court and so on.

I called hsbc and they said I was a minor. It was almost 5 years ago that the account had been closed and they have no record of me and basically sorry can't do anything. Now check enforcement bureau is calling me. I explained what happened. They literally told me to sue hsbc and that they have seen this type of thing before (I am now seriously considering it).

If I had know about this I would have taken care of it but this is ridiculous. I don't know what to do at this point. I can't see how it is fair to pay for something 2X plus 5x the amount?
