I recieved my first call from Global Living a week ago. They told me that my 6 month subsription was about to be up and they asked me if I wanted to cancel. I then told them that I never had a subscription with them. I asked him what magazine was supposed to have had and he said Vogue. He told me that I was listed as been recieving the magazine under my name and address.

I asked him when I got the magazine and he told me 6 months ago. The name he gave me was my maiden name and I don't use that name but it's still listed in the phone book under that name. I asked what bank it was and he told me Providence Bank, I don't use that bank. He told me to give him my account number and he could close the account. I laughed at him and asked didn't I just tell you that you had the wrong bank. He still asked me if I wanted to cancel. I told him no since I'm not being billed and not recieving any magazine. Then I hung up on him.

I talked to my mother and she gave me the idea that it could have been identity theft and that if someone did use my name and was charging someones account that I might be sued. I couldn't call them back because there was no number.

They called me back a few days later and asked me if I wanted to cancel again. I told them yes because of my fear of being sued. Then I told him that I think that I've been the victim of identity theft. He told me that if I gave him my bank name and account information that they could cancel it.

I had a strange feeling that they could be the ones trying to scam me. I asked the man how would I know if their just not trying to use my account number to charge my account. He said no that's not what they're trying to do. He trasfered me to the supervisor and the supervisor told me that the phone conversation will be recorded for the safety of their customers. Being an idiot I agreed to give him my account info. He told me that he would go over the subscription since I didn't know about it.

I asked him if it would then be canceled and he assured me that it would be. He verified my name, address, and account info slowly and then rushed through the subscription which sounded unusually like I was purchasing a subscription instead of canceling one.

All I could get out of the whole thing was 39.95, I tried to stop him to ask him some questions and he kept going and a verification number came up and then hung up. The next day there was a transaction from my account from Honey Bee Media/IBT and I new that they were the ones trying to scam me.

I called my bank and had it blocked. Alot of people must be going through the same problem because I didn't even tell the customer service rep which transaction it was rather than he told me. He had also been scammed by the same people and he even was able to give me a contact. Because I use my debit card for most of my bills I couldn't just cancel my account right away but will as soon as those bills post and suggest anyone who has had those people call you just to hang up on them.
