When a friend of mine began working for Sears, things looked hopeful. How wrong that notion would later turn out to be.
Sears techs:
- are poorly trained (sent out to do calls never ONCE trained for)
- forced to work OT (threatened if fail to comply)
- have poor stats due to aiding others (they do not get credit for the 'lost' time and are threatened they will end up on probation... Even though it was the MANAGER who insisted the tech perform the call)
- are expected to complete at least 8 calls a day (in an 8 hour period) even though their scheduled routes can range between 30 - 60 minute drives apart! Think about it that's only 1 hour per call, not including driving time.
- have to deal w / managers who fail to aid their techs when in need of help
- have managers who fail to take responsiblity of their duties: make sure techs have uniforms and are receiving parts.
- are often left w/o the necessary tools and parts needed which counts against them as a 'recall'. Also fault lies w / the manager.
- are written up based solely on the customers report, failing to question the tech on any incidence, even when the managers are aware the tech may not be at fault. And after 3 consecutive write ups, the tech is fired.
I'm sure the list only continues. SEARS is a corrupt company that only uses techs and abuses them.
