In October of I was charged for dental work before the service was even performed. I called the dental office once I got a bill - they said to just pay it because it's easier since there is a promotional balance. I told them I wasn't paying for a service I haven't even received. I was suppoesd to go in for services in December so they said they would credit back the charge once I came in for the actual service.in December, the new charge was made and that same day, the old (and incorrect) charge was reversed and I was refunded a late fee.
I got my next statement and noticed they applied the credit to the December charge instead of the October charge. So I had deferred finance fees of about $160 because it showed them accruing since October, but it should have been December. I wrote a letter requesting they fix it - I said I'd make a payment once the account was corrected. No response, only calls trying to collect payment. I told them I would pay when they fixed the account. Nothing. No one ever spoke English well enough to understand my problem. I had to finally get the dental office to call to clear up the problem. They assured me it would be fixed and to make a payment within a week... I agreed and next month statement came in and they still messed up the account. Now my payment got applied to the wrong transaction as well - a bigger mess to fix. They reversed finance fees charged until that time, but then recharged for new finance fees!
I called again and they reassured me it was being corrected and to just make the next payment... I did and then finance fees were reversed, recharged AGAIN and the promotional balance was gone - so now all finance fees were being charged and there would be interest charged here on out.
I called and asked to speak to a supervisor - she INSISTED they have charged me correctly and told me I was being rude when she was the one not listening to the history of my account. She hung up on me! Nice management skills... Makes me wonder who's at the top!
It has been over 8 months now and I even filed a compliant with the BBB. GE Money Bank says they have credited finance fees in the past "as a courtesy" and because I've missed more than 2 payments, the promotional balance has ended. Are you kidding? They credited finance fees and late charges because the account was wrong since inception and of course I missed 2 payments - they have not corrected the account! I have never once received one statment that has been correct. They have delayed in fixing my account for over 8 months and has now sent it to a collection agency!!!
Lawyers - something needs to be done. I'm game for a classaction lawsuit - it's obvious my complaints are nothing new to GE Money Bank.
