Our family and friends have been using the Entrix Africa prepaid phone card, to talk to our relatives and friends in five countries of Africa, they are on mission over there.
This card (issued by Entrix Telecom) seemed to be a great deal before, you can get it for $5.00, it allowed you to talk for about 1 hour if you call Africa. BUT now this thing turns up to be a rip off: First, if you call a landline phone, it will never go through anymore, the line rings busy however if you call the same number without using any phone card, it will ring and you can talk with your interlocutor. If you decide to call people's cell phone (in the same country) but this will take a while to get a ring tone, BUT you will never get to talk anyone because this is just ringing somewhere else. (you think your relative or friends are not picking up the phone)
Next thing you know, your phone card is drained, there is no more credit on it.
You call the 800 number (800-413-1546), they will tell you that that's how it works: You call a cell, even if nobody picks up the phone [and nobody will because this is a set up]. YOU PAY FOR IT!!! And there's nothing they can do about it, all they say is: Would you like to recharge your phone card sir?
We did this kind of test few times, week days, week end. We got the same result.
