Geo Telecom SDI Asia Queen Phone Card won't connect to the number I dialed.
I bought the card for $2. It has a toll free connect number and several direct dial access numbers in Texas. I tried the 888 number and the number for Galveston, which is the nearest city to me. After I entered my PIN, the computer told me I had $2 on the account. I entered the phone number to Tokyo correctly with the 011 and 81 and 3 the number. The computer told me I had 2 hours. Then I hear the phone ringing, but it was an American ringing sound, not a Japanese ring tone. Then the call disconnected. I called back and the computer told me I had only $1.96 remaining. I was annoyed but it was only 6 cents, so I entered my PIN and the number again, carefully and correctly. The same thing happened and I was again disconnected. I called one more time, and this time after I heard the American ring tone I heard a recorded message saying something about a class action settlement for people who bought their cards a couple of years ago. I didn't really listen to the details since I bought my card last week. After that message, the phone disconnected again.
So i called the customer service 800-545-5169 number and told the lady who answered what had happened and I asked her to correct the situation. The customer service person said she would refund my PIN account for the amount charged. She then asked what else she could do for me, so I repeated my request for help connecting to the number I want to dial in Japan. She put me on hold and left me on hold. After 5 minutes I realized she had abandoned me, so I hung up. I tried one more time to call, and I found out that she had not recredited my account, and again I got the same American ring tone and then disconnected.
So I googled this Geo-Telecom and got this Rip Off website. I joined and am reporting it. It's only $2, but if there is a lawyer out there who is gathering information about these jerks, I'd be happy to help out in a class action suit.
