Poulan Pro Model PPB 300E

I have been an avid fan of Poulan Pro products for 20 years. I currently own two chain saws, one of which is about 12 years old and still runs as good as the day I bought it, the other just purchased 2 years ago was only purchased to upgrade. I also own two trimmer models, the first one I bought about 15 or 16 years ago still runs great and I have been able to do the few repairs that have been needed to be made; the other model Model Number Poulan Pro PPB 300E (which is a 31cc trimmer/brush cutter/chain saw combo) is a piece of junk.

I'm used to every 5 or so years having to replace fuel lines. I've had to do it on my older models a couple of times each. So it was no surprise when a couple of days ago I went to start up my brush cutter and found that the fuel lines were rotten, no big deal, I called my local small engine repair shop (which is also an authorized Poulan repair shop) and got the fuel lines that afternoon.

After replacing the fuel lines I attempted to start the unit and it started like usual, but, it only ran for a few seconds before dieing. So, I once again called up my saw shop and was told that they had seen the same model as mine before. They cited one instance where they replaced the carborator three times and each time it was the same, the unit would run for a couple hours/days and then "something" would go wrong with the carborator. The saw shop, which has been there for me for twenty years, told me that the unit was junk and that they wouldn't bother spending the $30 it would cost to replace the carborator! They suggested maybe calling Poulan to find out if there was anything at all that they could do for me.

I contacted the company (Poulan) not expecting a free fix, but just expected somebody to be able to tell me that they at least knew about the problem and that they would work with me to get the unit repaired. But instead of curtious, respectful service I received blatant disrespect! I was asked, not what model I was having trouble with, but how old the unit is. As best as I can remember, the unit is about 4-5 years old. I was then informed that because the factory warranty (which I didn't care about) had expired there was absolutely nothing they could do for me with the exception of directing me to the nearest authorized repair shop. I promptly told them that their "shop" was the one that suggested I contact the company (Poulan).

Well not for me anymore! I'll just go check out Sthil, and Poulan can just kiss my business goodbye!!
