We purchased a $ 72,000.00 home from Horton Homes in Georgia through J&S Factory Showcase Inc.in Kannapolis, N.C. Things went wrong right after we gave them the money order for the full amount.
The house was delivered late hit an underpass on the way the protective plastic was torn up the roof was damaged and the vinyl sidding was damaged.
They left the house without fixing the plastic so with a storm expected my boy friend and our neighbor climbed ontop of both halves of the house and with tarps and staple guns were able to close up the house so it would not be damaged.
Since we got the house we have compiled a list of things that are wrong ranging from a bathroom being in the wrong place to a coffee cup being left in the bathroom vent pipe which caused a flood under the house.
Somemore things wrong the sheetrock was not attatched the whole house had to be rescrewed the pipes under the sine were not connected or glued we were shorted corrner beads and molding and we are missing lighting fixtures
When they drilled for the fotters they hit the septc line the water line and a drain line we had to repair these they said we would get steps with the house a month later we got them but they did not pass inspection.
They looked at the home site said it was fine but when the house came we had to move more earth and take down a dozen more trees
There are stress cracks down the center of the house from one end to the other the door knods snap off in your hand when you turn the knob the heating and cooling system is not large enough or in the wrong place so half the house is too hot or freezing cold
We paid $400.00 extra for oak molding and got paper covered oak look molding and we didn't get enough of it
We changed the swing on the storm door on the back door and when we took the storm door off the inside door fell out hitting my boyfriend in the head it wasn't attached to any thing
This company sucks they have substandard construction and when you try to get help they give excuses or you get the run around its been six months and we have decided to fix it ourselves and take legal action
Don't ever buy a home from Horton Homes or from J&S Factory Showcase Inc. We got a Horton Home and we bought it from Jeff Moore at J&S Factory Showcase Inc who was very helpful until he got our money order payment in full now I think they are just playing a waiting game if it takes them long enough to respond to the complaints we'll just do it ourselves. They are right.
