If you want to be ripped of by the best at it go to Southern Showcase Housing in Asheboro. I actually believed they have had lessons in it. We were greeted by Jeff a salesman for showcase homes, he told us he had a really great deal on a home that someone could not keep because he wanted to put the basement on a wooden foundation, so the house was brought to them. We didn't know it had been sitting on the lot for over a year and things has been put in and taken out of it. He told us he would sell us the house for $l07,000.00. He told us that the guy who bought it first didn't order floors, or didn't have the Modular home painted. We still thought $l07,000.00 was still a good deal even if we had to put floors in and have it painted. He didn't tell us that the home was being sold "as is" until after the fact. The home was not put together and all we could actually see was bits and pieces of the home when we tore the plastic to try to see what we could of it. I believe it was the next day that we went in to sign the papers with the business manager, Mr. Andy Mckeown. We found out that they has left of a few very important details! Nothing was actually included in the l07,000.00 price but the home itself which looked like a disaster on the inside. The only thing we actually got out of the deal was an air conditioning which he originally told us we were going to have to pay for, at that time we were going to back out of the deal and so they pulled us back in by telling us they would include the air if we would still buy the home, and we had already put down a $l5,000.00 on our home which we would lose if we cancelled. I had to go back and take some papers to the office when I found out the house had already been taken to our lot, we had asked to be notified when the house was moved. Finally the house was set up and we thought all our problems were over. What a joke that was. The home was filthy with dust, the bathtub in the master bathroom was missing, we were told the former buyer didn, t order one for it. The air conditioning system was not big enough to cool the house, they never bothered to put door knobs on the outside doors or fix the ones that were broken on the inside. The front door would not lock at all because the part of the lock was missing. We begged for months for someone to put door knobs on the doors because we were afraid someone would steal the refrigerator that was still laying in a box in the floor and the dishwasher that could be easily removed. Randy Beale said he was going to put them on everyday, but never did. After my husband had words with Andy McKeown, we got a phone call from Carl Wright who promised everything would be taken care of to our satisfaction. Afraid someone would steal us blind we went out and bought the door knobs for all the doors in the house. After we told Mr. Wright that, he told us he would repay us for the locks, and he did. When they set the house, it was set on some air conditions wires and the air would not work right. Finally after nothing being done by Randy Beale, or Jeff or Andy to fix this either, we hired our on guy to do the work on the air conditioning. Mr. Wright said he would pay for this also and he did. The storm door on the front of the house was sitting in the living room. The storm door on the back of the home would not shut or if you prised it shut you could not get out of it. We were told the front storm door would be fixed or replaced and that the back storm door would definitely be fixed. They have not done either one. One of their Cohorts came out and stole the storm door for the front of the home out of our basement. When we complained we were told by Andy McKeown that the door didn't go with the home. The door was in the home when we bought it and we expect a new storm door to be replaced for the one they took. After we complained that we were going to take a warrant he called the guy who took the door and told him to bring the door back, knowing that the door won't fit the house, and we were promised that the door would be fixed or replaced. They broke a pipe in our driveway and we have complained so much until months ago they came out and stuck a plastic pipe in the hole where the old one was broken, but never covered it up, and when it rains the plastic pipe floats to the top of the water and sticks straight up in the air. The attic has pieces of plyboard in it, and when we asked where the rest of it was, we were told it didn't come with the house either, well where did the rest of it go, probably into another house, why would they have some of the attic covered and not the rest? This is just another way of ripping us off. The doors on the house are uneven, and it is all we can do to get the front door to close at all. We have called a woman named Trish at Showcase numerous times to try to get things fixed or looked into, but either it didn't come with the house or I have already called them, or this is a manufacturers problem. Please don't deal with Southern Showcase homes, buy from someone who is reputable and will not tell you things like Andy McKeon told us, that he wished he had never let them leave that house on the lot, alot of help he was. Also we were promised to see the cheat sheet that they used to add to the $l07,000.00 we were getting in this great deal of a house. We ended up paying $l85,000.00 for a $107,000.00 house, not counting the floor, painting, tiling paying electricians for work they should have done, paying other graders for work they should have done and being sick to our stomachs for making such a big mistake by listening to them at all.
Never take anyone at their word especially Southern Showcase they will take you to the cleaners and look you in the eyes and lie the whole time their doing it.
