I used Tiger Home Inspection for the purchase of my new home in May. At the time of the home inspection, the inspector Eric Blatz, made the observation that the alignment of the garage doors was off and I should consult with the contractor/developer of the home before closing. Based on this recommendation, I put a contingency in the closing of my home that the alignment of the garage doors be repaired prior to closing. This was done, the garage doors were working properly at the time, and I proceeded to closing. Soon after I moved into the home, I began having issues with the garage doors again.
The quality of the garage doors deteriorated to the point where they no longer close properly, the strain on the doors caused tearing on the top panels of the garage doors, and many other issues with the doors have been a constant. I recently had two garage door repairmen come out for an estimate to repair the doors. Both of them pointed out what was the issue immediately - my garage is 7 feet, yet my garage doors are 8 and 1/2 feet tall. The discrepancy between the size of the garage and the garage doors has ruined my doors to the point where I know need to pay approximately $1200-$1500 to completely replace the doors in a home I have been living in for less than a year, which was only built in 2007. One of the garage repairman stated that it was obvious at first glance that the issue was the 8 1/2 foot doors on a 7 foot garage and that any quality home inspector should have picked up on that immediately. He even recommended litigation against the home inspection company I went with based on the huge oversight on the inspectors part.
To date, I have also had to deal with a bathroom leak and water damage that was missed by this subpar home inspector. I called Tiger Home Inspection and was put through to Laura with customer service to voice my complaint. She said that she would speak with the supervising inspector and took my contact information and stated someone would call me back within 24 hours. Four days passed with no call. At that point I called Laura back and she told me that there was nothing that Tiger Home Inspection could do for me.
The frustrating part of this is I put my trust into this company and have been completely let down. Their motto is "for the most important purchase of your life, your home". I trusted this company to give me an expert analysis of the issues with my home, didnt achieve it, and when I contacted them I was basically told that it wasn't their problem. This was very dissapointing indeed.
