My husband and I hired Sunshine floor Design Gallery to install ceramic tile floors in our home. The sales office in Summerlin told us it would take approx. 3-4 days to complete this job when we signed out contract and scheduled a date for installation.
It turned out that Sunshine Flooring does not even have their own flooring crews. They contract out their work to another company. Only the people who answer the phones can speak English, the crew they sent did not. The first installation took 7 days and not 3-4 as they promised. The crew was late each day and no-showed for 2 days after the 3 days of work. Their excuse to Sunsine Flooring was that they ran out of tile. This was a lie. There were large stacks of tile that the stacked in our garage. The crew helped themselves to drinks in our refrigerator and left empty cans and bottles lying all over our home. They set drinks on my furniture leaving ring marks and spilled soda on my carpet. They also propped all the doors open (in the middle of May it was 90 degrees out) and then turned my thermostat to 68 degrees to cool themselves while they worked. I tried to complain to the Sunshine Office about their poor work ethics but they didn't seem to care too much.
When they finally completed the job 4 days later than promised, I couldn't believe my eyes. Every tile was uneven and unlevel. None of the grout lines were the same size. They all varied from 1/8 inch to 1/2 inch. The tile cuts around the carpeted areas were all uneven cuts with crooked angles. They did not put tile under my dishwasher.instead the tiled up to the edge of the machine and then grouted laid grout against the appliance! There was a huge gap in front of the stairs because they didn't make the cut tight enough and then they put a strip of grout between the tile and carpet! Yes, they grouted my carpet! They also banged up my walls and baseboards leaving huge gashes. They also trashed my garage and front yard by leaving garbage, broken tiles and piles of tile dust from cutting inside my garage.
I refused to pay them for the job. They sent a manager out from the Sunshine office and he did nothing. He actually told me "Oh this isn't so bad. I've actually seen them do worse." I thought, What??? Am I supposed to accept that? I still refused to pay. So they hired another company to come back out, only one of them spoke a tiny bit of English. They agreed to rip out the whole thing and redo it.
Two weeks after the first job, they showd up at 7 am with a jackhammer and started breaking up the tile. I had a fit because they were not going to cover anything in the house to protect it from the dust that was fying around. I told them they could not continue until they covered everything with plastic. One of them came back with only about 4 rolls of plastic and the cheapest stuff they could find. They did a shabby job covering everything. My entire home was covered in tile dust, including the walls. It looked like it snowed in my home.
The second job was better but still have many flaws including uneven grout, and cracks. They also forgot to tile under 1/2 my dishwasher and it sits crooked. They had to come back 4 times to repair broken or cracked tiles that they reused from the first job, grout cracks and a leak around my toilet twice.
In the ares where the carpet meets the tile, they left chunks of tile, dirt and debris under the carpet and tacked it down. We could actually see a lump and feel the debris under the carpet when you walked on it. They never bothered to glue the carpet down and tuck it into the tile so th carpet has receded from the tile leaving a gap and you can see the edge of the tile all the way to the concrete. It looks hideous.
They refused to come back and do any more repairs. They refused to pay for anyone to come and clean my home from the mess they left. Even 1 year later the grout is still cracking and sinking in where they left air pockets.
If anyone is thinking about having tile floors put in, do NOT use Sunshine Floor Design Gallery.
