Hp ze5738rs memory limit - HP Pavillion ze5738rs

How can I increase the limit for ram memory in the HP ze5738rs computer. I like the computer. But it runs fairly slow while running Xubuntu 12.04. Everything I have read tells me 1 gig max, but is that a HARD limit or can it be bridged?
