My sales person, Mo had pushed me on a 2009 Honda Civic LX. Mo then offered for me to pay a monthly of $500. I told him I had little finances and couldn't afford such a high payment. He then went from $500 to $375 for 60 month after I had put $8500 down at a sticker price of $17,995, although I was aware of how pricey my deal was, I agreed. At an urgency, Mo had rushed my over to my bank to take out the cash and while I was in transaction, Mo had spoke to my father telling him the agreement ($375 for $60 months). Mike (The finance person) & Mo had not gone over any details with me and just told me where to sign. Two weeks later, Santadander Consumer USA Inc had called me to reconfirm the information that they had from me and mentioned that I had a $380 a month payment, at a 72 month time frame (I had verbally agreed with Mo for a $375 at 60 mo). I spoke to manager, Charles and he explained the contract further and told me that whoever was involved should have at least explained my contract and all the details, that he will speak to everyone involved and can "see what he can do, although it may be too late" in terms of the $5 dollar difference and 60 not 72 month policy I originally agreed to. He called back a week later and was not able to do anything. I did not understand how it would be too late since I have not even made my first payment towards and how it was only less than a month since I've had the car.
The truth and lending disclosure was NEVER discussed with me. They had given me a completely different contract than what we had verbally agreed on. The sales manager, Charles had told me that Mo (sales person) did not remember speaking to my father. The whole reason why I agreed to getting the car was because he had explained the contract to him on the phone, which shows dishonesty on the salesman end. Mike (finance) did not go over anything on the deal and had rushed me and was just focused on having me sign my signatures on the lines. After several failed attempts of contacting them by phone and dropping in person to the office, I was not helped and was gave the runaround. The dealership had taken advantage of me because they knew that I was a first time buyer. I wanted my first car purchase to be a easy and honest experience but unfortunately, the end result was me getting ripped off and got deceived into singing a contract that I did not agree on. They did not go over any of the papers, before or after I had signed it. The dealership also failed miserably on following up and taking care of my concerns after the event.
